Ok, back to Saturday. After dropping off the TV stand at my dad's, we went on to my mom's. We had called in take-out from my favorite little Chinese place there in town and we dropped the kids off at mom's and ran to pick up lunch for everyone. We had just over 30 minutes to eat before TJ, Nick and I went out to hide Easter eggs. We finished hiding the eggs that I had brought (114-including 24 hard boiled ones) and my cousin, Raeann showed up with her 60 for us to hide. We ran out of space, and the kids were all 4 years old, so we made it a little easy! :)
Evan found 69 eggs! He was so proud and towards the end, he was having Nick carry his basket for him because it was too heavy! Annabeth found 21. Not too bad since she could have cared less and only thanks to TJ she caught on to what she was supposed to do!
The Easter Bunny made a quick stop at our place to drop off baskets of goodies for the kids. They each a got a chocolate bunny and two DVDs a piece. Evan got Spongebob and Annabeth got Elmo. There were various other things in the baskets, too. I guess the Easter Bunny was rich this year? lol
Then, we got up and ready
for Easter Sunday Service. That's right. I said it. We went to church. There was a
Nazarene church that was moving into their brand new building and we decided we probably wouldn't be the only ones who looked lost (as in, don't know where to go! lol), so why not try it out! Annabeth embraced the new experience and reached for the nursery worker when we showed her the room where she would go. We left her bag with snacks and such and just tried to be optimistic. They had a sign in/out procedure and you have to have a ticket to pick up the child so it seems pretty safe. The kids all wear name tags on their backs with name, parent's names, allergy info, etc. I felt ok to leave her and she didn't mind it all. Plus, they even give us parents a pager set to silent, of course, in case we're needed. She was very excited to see us when we went back to pick her up, but she did fine (and looked like a princess!)
Evan was another story. We didn't think he would stay with the kids, but thought we'd try anyway. His class was large and his teacher seemed kinda grouchy, and he wasn't staying! NO way, No how! I even tried to take him back mid-service and sit with him for a bit, but he wasn't having it. So, he sat out in the "big church" with us. He did very well. Sat very still/quiet and he wasn't the only kid out there who had obviously boy-cotted children's church, so it was ok.
Surprise. They were having communion. I guess that's common on Easter Sunday, but I honestly had no idea they would be doing it. Evan wanted to participate, so I broke off part of my "bread" and got him his own "cup". He surprised us both. The "bread" was the wafer-thin, not-so-great-tasting ones. Nick and both thought for sure he'd spit it out or gag loudly, but he didn't. And grape juice, no way. He's NEVER liked grape juice. We were also pretty sure he'd spit it on their new floor. lol He made us both so proud! He did chug the grape juice before he was supposed to, but who can blame him? He was proud of himself, too. He got all excited, telling us how he'd finished it all! So there it is, Evan's first communion!

This is the only positive in my whole weekend. Thank you.
Great pics and sounds like a super Easter too! Are you church-shopping?
I'm giggling at your "first communion" comment...you know he's not suppose to participate until he's actually gone through the process of "first communion"? LOL
Sounds like you all had a wonderful Easter!
Danni, actually, that's not the way the Nazarene Church works. They have "open" communion. So anyone is invited to participate. :)
what a wonderful weekend it sounds like! awesome!
