We finally got word this evening that the Chemo will start tonight. They've pushed it back at least 20 times. I guess they've been wanting more confirmation of the type of cancer? It was apparently a great day for Trevor as he got up and was walking on his own with a walker-a BIG step for him. He made it down to the "play room" today again and got to pet and play with a therapy dog, a big, lovable Golden Retriever. He loves that!
Since the cancer is so aggressive, so will be the Chemotherapy. It will go in cycles. Three days on, starting tonight at 9 pm-it will go through the night, then 8 days off. That will continue for at least a year. The good news is, he will get to go home in the 8 day interim period. As long as his body settles in on this treatment, and he is well enough to go home, they'll let him. The doctor told his Mom today that their plan is to have him home for Thanksgiving!
Praise God for some good news!
They will commute back and forth from Van Buren to Little Rock and take one treatment at a time. We're not able to mark our calendars by the 3 days on/8days off rule, though. If for some reason he isn't healthy enough for treatment on the day it's time to start, he may have to wait another day or even another week.
Please continue to pray for Trevor. He's got a long road ahead of him and the Chemo is going to be very rough. Trevor has a low pain tolerance (a lot like his Aunt Ginger!) and we know he will be very sick.
I still believe in miracles. Do you?
